Never Forgot Tailem

Railway men came and went, but never forgot Tailem Bend,

Yugoslavian born Sava Milosovic married German born Maria after meeting during World War II. (Sava was a Prisoner of War and Maria would bring him food)

Arriving in Australia, with their son Karl, they moved to Prospect and had another child Jordan.

Working in the Railways Sava was transferred to Tailem Bend where they lived in Railway Cottage accommodation, facing the line on the corner diagonally opposite Peter O’Brien’s original home.

After many years in Tailem Bend Sava was transferred to Naracoorte where he remained until retirement – moving back to Adelaide to Kurralta Park.

Tailem Bend Historian, Kathleen Kromwyk, receives brief notes and photographs like these every month – stay tuned for more details about Sava and Maria as their story comes to life over the coming months.
